Welcome to the Justice Institute of British Columbia. We’d like to tell you about some of the services and support we provide. 

Service Desk

 

Technology Services provides support for the network connectivity including wireless, access to servers, network drives, computer hardware and software, classroom technologies and others. The Service Desk is your single point of contact for technical problems, including hardware, software, Blackboard and audiovisual requests, such as web streaming.

Some of the most commonly used services by JIBC staff are listed below:

Outlook / Email / Webmail

 

When you log in to a JIBC computer, you access your email using Microsoft Outlook client. You can make use of the Calendar, Contacts and other features of Outlook.

 

When you’re off-site, access your email from any computer by using Outlook Web Access.  Simply go to outlook.office.com and log in. If you are staff, you can change your account settings from the View Account link just below your name in the upper right corner.

Justice Institute Intranet

 

When logged onto the JIBC network, staff will also have access to the JIBC Intranet.

 

 

 

 

Network Drives

 

Do not save any data on the local C: drive.

 

Staff can access 4 network drives (U, W, T and R drives). The intended purposes for each drive are listed below:

 

  • U: Drive  
  • Unique drive for each user
  • Backed up nightly
  • For personal work files

 

  • W: Drive
  • One for each Academy/Division
  • For files accessed by multiple staff within an Academy/Division.

 

  • T: Drive (Transfer Drive)
  • Provides temporary access to files
    (not intended for long term storage)

 

  • R: Drive
  • Used for the Records Management Project (ARCS AND ORCS)

  • Consult your Admin Supervisor if you have questions about the R: drive

All network drives are JIBC property and are not to be used for personal music, video or picture storage.
