Task: 

Update your JIBC mobile device from the iPhone 6s to the iPhone SE (2020)

Prerequisites (if applicable): 

iPhone SE (2020)

Instructions:
  1. Make a list of all personal apps and passwords that you have installed on your existing iPhone (to be reinstalled on your new iPhone SE). Note:  Save your personal data (pictures) before proceeding with the following instructions.  Users are responsible for saving/restoring their personal data and settings.  Backup/restore instructions of personal data is not covered in this document but here are some suggestions:  Manually copy your pictures to your computer OR  Go to this Apple support site to learn how to restore your iPhone from an iCloud backup.  Please note that an iTunes back-up cannot be used for the new iPhone SE.  

  2. Using the SIM card tool, remove the SIM card from your existing iPhone. 
  3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your existing iPhone. 
  4. Install your SIM card into your iPhone SE and power it on if necessary. 
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to setup the Language and Region settings. 
  6. When prompted, bring your old iPhone near the iPhone SE to start the sync process. 
  7. Using your old iPhone, scan the pattern that appears on the iPhone SE
  8. Follow the on-screen prompts to setup the JIBC remote management tool. 
  9. Once the phone launches, you will encounter the message, “Guided Access app unavailable. Please contact your administrator.” This will remain on the screen until InTune starts. When prompted, sign-in to Microsoft Intune using your JIBC credentials. 
  10. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup. 
  11. Your email account settings should be automatically configured by the Intune Management tool. It will take several minutes for your mail, contacts and calendar to download. 
  12. Confirm that your SIM card is working by making a phone call on your iPhone SE
  13. Re-install all personal applications as required. 
  14. If required, restore personal data and settings (from step 1). 
  15. Re-activate Duo (see below). 

    Your old iPhone MUST be returned to Technology Services 
    Once you have confirmed that all apps, data and settings have been restored/saved, please perform a factory reset on your old iPhone: 
    Go to Settings>General>Reset 
    Select Reset All Content and Settings 
    Follow on-screen prompts to confirm 
    Return your old iPhone to Technology Services  

    Setup Duo on Your New Phone 

    Note: Turn off WiFi if you are currently connected to a JIBC wireless network.
  16. Using the web browser on your phone, go to https://webmail.jibc.ca 
  17. Login using your JIBC credentials. 
  18. Select Settings.  
  19. Select Add a new device. 
  20. Confirm the Choose an authentication device field shows the last 4-digits of your mobile number. 
  21. Choose one of the 3 authentication methods: Call Me, Enter a Passcode, Send Me a Push. 
  22. Complete the registration process on your phone. 
Outcome: 

iPhone SE ready for use.
