How to Extend Your Display with Multiple Screens (Windows 11)

Purpose:

Extend your desktop across two or more monitors in Windows 11, so you can work more efficiently with more screen space.

 

 

  Steps to Extend Your Display:

 

  1. Connect Your Monitors
    • Plug your second (or third) monitor into your computer using HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, or VGA.

 

  1. Open Display Settings
    • Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.

 

  1. Detect & Identify Monitors
    • Click “Identify” to see numbers appear on each screen so you know which is which.

  • Drag the screens to match their physical layout (side by side, one above the other, etc.).

      4. Choose Display Mode

  • From the dropdown, select “Extend desktop to this display”.

  • This lets you drag windows between screens and gives you more desktop space.
  1. Set Primary Display (Optional)
    • Click the monitor you want as your main screen.
    • Scroll down and check “Make this my main display”.
    • This will host your taskbar and main icons.

  1. Apply Changes
    • Click Apply to save and activate your setup.

You now have an extended desktop. Great for multitasking, comparing documents, and boosting productivity.
